Hi Everyone,

I saw these forums had kind of died off lately (no domain name, probably being the reason). On the off chance you've popped in and you're looking for a play-by-post forum game, I'll be trying to start one up here.

If this thread hasn't been posted on within the past week: it is dead!!!! Dead, do you hear me! Don't bother to post. If it has been posted on in the last week, that probably means I'm still around and you'll have to wait about a week for the next 'game turn' turnaround. If you're good with that (and the general lack of rules on this play-by-post game) then feel free to post something (at your own risk).

The adventure is called "The Last Castle of Fornost". Your group of brave heroes have come to this far distant land in search of heroic feats to achieve and fabulous treasures to claim. Likely they are of the great Challenger ruleset, but all rules systems are welcome, if ye be brave enough. 1st level characters only, and those of good character. No villains or 20th level arch-mages shall be allowed. If you're not sure what the heck all this is, but would like to try it anyway, I can handle the creation of your character and such-like. Feel free to join in for the fun of it.

Dice rolls will be handled by the GM or, if he allows, the player who make the request to roll for themselves.

Your band of heroes have climbed a hill beyond the village of Dothrak where they heard tell that the Castle of Fornost was near. Long abandoned, it has stood for over 2,000 years to tempt any brave enough to their deaths. While many have ventured beyond the portcullis, none have returned to tell the tale. It is rumored the bowels of the keep are haunted and contain all manner of monsters and treasures. Only the most foolhardy would are approach the Keep.

You dismount and your horses whicker in fear. The peasants quiver in their boots and a man flees. You curse his cowardice and jog down the hill toward your doom. You aren't scared. You're a hero. What will you do now?

I'm assuming the rules for not posting after a week apply after we have a few players. :D If not, .....

Let me introduce Halldor Lightstrom, Order of the Holy Balrogs!

Halldor is a squire of the Order of the Holy Balrogs, and has set on this quest to gain experience and knowledge useful to his Order when he becomes a knight and hopefully a Lord Commander.

Race: Beast Demon Thing

Class: Pyromancer, Skill Master, Artificer, Rune Master, Rage Maniac (Obviously, I used all five power points, no extra class powers)(P.S. And yes, its more fun that way!)(Oh, and he is a BALROG, I couldn't just make him a Rage Maniac/Pyromancer)

Skills: Stealth +0 (Skill master freebie!)

          Phys. Stren. +5

         Ment. Stren. +5

Refl. +5 (To make saving throws easier for GM.)

         Athletics +0

Flight -5 (Power skill. It is said that Balrogs have wings, but no one knows if they can fly. So, I split the difference with a power skill. I'm a cautious aggressive player, so Flight will mainly be used to buff my jumping moves, as well as fear factor. MWHAHAHAHA! ;))

         Forging +5

Equipment: ...... Do I have to type it out?

Holy Hand Staff of Holy Light-Magic wand. Helps shoot Holy Fire. Get the Picture?

Holy Hand Sling of Holy Murder-Magic Sling. Used to throw Holy Missiles

Holy Hammer of Holy Mauling

Holy Meteor Hammer of Chastisement (Also good for tripping and climbing, as well as for wrapping around folks when Halldor has the Bestow Flames power! MWAHAHAHAH- Donggggg! Oh, my head.)

3 wood truncheons (mace with spike on end for stabbing and thowing)

Food, food, and more food. Duh.

Oh, and water.

A bag of Holy Missiles. (Yes, they're just pebbles. With Holy Runes....I wonder what those do?!)

Book of Holy Scriptures

Book of Holy Recipes for Foods, Weapons, and Potions.

I think that's it.....for now.

"Halldor approaches the castle. He considers his options. Scaling the gates is the normal tactic, but it is very dangerous if there is the slightest resistance. Also, if the party has to flee, other heroes might not be as well equipped as himself and be unable to fly over the gate or climb as swiftly. Therefore he determines that this is a good time to practice his Holy Meteor attack.

First Halldor scribes a rune of Holy Accuracy on himself, his Holy Hand Sling of Holy Murder, and his Holy Hand Staff of Holy Light. Then, he scribes a rune of Super-Heaviness on a nearby rock, to be activated when hit with Holy Fire. Finally, he scribes runes of Awesome Strength, Holy Judgement, Extremely Fast, and Long Distance on himself. (To shoot the rock farther). At last, he takes a calculation of the angle of his shot, aiming at the gates, and fires his slingshot. He waits a couple seconds for the stone to get well into orbit, then fires a bolt of Holy Fire. The Fire activates the stone's rune and turns it into a heavy, burning Holy Meteor.

Halldor looks at the beautiful sight his work has just made, then goes off a safe distance to prepare supper for the rest of the party when they arrive. As he turns his back, the meteor hurtles towards earth, and, hopefully, the gate.
